Ellie Johnson’s initial thrill of finding a husband quickly turned to terror as a consequence of her poor choices. Running away from home as a pre-teen, her only dream was to find someone who would love her, shelter her and protect her.

After a failed first marriage and a disastrous relationship with a married man who had promised to leave his wife for her, Ellie finally thinks her luck is turning when the very wealthy Brent L. Livingston III showed up, landing his yacht on the island where Ellie is bartending, daydreaming of the single, handsome, sober guy that would appear, whisk her away and fulfill her wildest fantasies. Brent is searching for a First Mate to travel the world with. His quest led him right to Ellie, who is only too willing to go to sea with him. Ellie believes they will make a perfect couple as her hopes are still wrapped around her fantasy of living a settled life in a giant mansion surrounded by a picket fence. She is sure that once they settle down together and she gives him babies, the thrill of yachting and the taste of alcohol will become less important than the joys of being a husband and father.
