The Monuments Men

“The Monuments Men,’ Directed by George Clooney, produced by Clooney and he is also stars as Frank Stokes. This is a true story, near the end of WWII when curators, historians, and scholars volunteered to go to Germany to recover stolen art and other priceless treasures before it could be destroyed by Hitler.

Also starring, Bill Murray, and John Goodman, and Kate as the powerless but invaluable librarian who provides locations and information as to what is stored away and covered up in warehouses. They travel to chapels, rich people’s mansions that are numbered and stored in warehouses and factories , some even boxed ready to go to Hitler’s residences.  The men travel in Army trucks covered with canvas to take them to another set of trucks near the train station where the precious cargo will be shipped and loaded onto trains heading out of the country.

Based on a true story, the acting is superb; all are pros, and the fear of discovery is right at their tails. Some humor there too. What you will enjoy is the work of so many well-trained stars and their believability, their humor, and how they group together to get the job done.
